Vice President Positions
VP Programs
Vice President of Programs is responsible for organizing AIChE’s General Meetings and Lunch & Learns. This includes reaching out to companies on a consistent basis before and throughout the semester to ensure that all the events are sponsored, organizing and leading the events by collaboratively working with other officers, third-party vendors, and members. In addition, the VP Programs is in charge of leading and mentoring the Programs Committee.
VP Internal
The Vice President of Internal is responsible for planning and executing the Fall Social, Texas Tournament, and Casino Night. They serve as the leader for the organization's inner dynamics in coordinating all member-only events to encourage social development and engagement. In addition, the VP Internal will be in charge of leading and mentoring the Internal Committee.
VP Publicity
VP Publicity is in charge of keeping members informed and engaged in the activities that are hosted by the student chapter. VP Publicity sends out the weekly emails, manages the merchandise and its marketplace, and leads the publicity committee, who helps make promotional material for various events.
General Officer Positions
Historian
The Historian’s job is to advertise for AIChE while also keeping the membership list up to date. This entails maintaining the website, the chapter’s Instagram page, writing the monthly newsletter, The Catalyst, creating posters for advertising events, and updating the membership and email list weekly. When in-person, the Historian is also responsible for documenting the events of the chapter by attending all events to take pictures. At the end of the year, the Historian creates a scrapbook to commemorate what the chapter has accomplished over the year. This position is great for people who are creative and want a way to express their creativity!
Mentorship Chair
The AIChE Mentorship Chair is tasked with connecting freshman and sophomore students with juniors and seniors to impart wisdom that upperclassmen have gained over their many years. The Mentorship Chair is in charge of registering participants, pairing up upper and underclassmen, and planning events and activities for participants to interact. The Mentorship Chair must encourage continued involvement in the program, and provide support to both mentors and mentees. If you are extremely social, enthusiastic, and love helping people learn and develop their skills, the Mentorship Chair position is right for you.
Special Events Coordinator
The Special Events Coordinator is responsible for communicating with corporate sponsors to provide students with an opportunity to experience chemical engineering being used in different industries. As the Special Events Coordinator, you will be responsible for all members while attending these events. In the past, we have taken plant trips to Frito Lay, Albemarle, and many more great companies from a wide variety of industries. The Special Events Coordinator also organizes a tailgate for students and company representatives to attend. If you would like to be a mentor to younger students, enjoy exploring industry positions, and love to work with corporate sponsors, the Special Events Coordinator position is right for you.
Community Service Chair
The AIChE Community Service Chair is responsible for community outreach in the Bryan/College Station area. Community Service from A&M is a great way to give back to such a supportive environment. As the Community Service chair, you will be the face of the organization to the community. You will be responsible for making sure AIChE is well-represented at each major service event. This past year, AIChE hosted a blood drive, clothing drive, and participated in The Big Event, and Aggie Replant. If you enjoy serving others and giving back to the community, the Community Service Chair is right for you.
Professional Development
The AIChE Professional Development Chair is responsible for bringing together undergraduate students with corporate sponsors and AIChE Alumni to provide recurring skills workshops. These include events like Career Fair prep, soft skills development, and industry workshops. Industry workshops involve a company coming to train members in a particular area, such as operating a plant, control systems, refining basics, valves & pumps, etc. The Professional Development Chair is tasked with constantly looking for new opportunities to develop member skills, even if unrelated to Chemical Engineering. If you are determined, professional, and love to learn new skills, the Professional Development Chair is right for you.
Society Representative
The AIChE Society Representative is responsible for attending monthly SEC President Round Table meetings, coordinating with the SEC to establish a participation plan for society-oriented events, and communicating with other engineering organizations to improve societal relationships. The Society Representative will be attending these meetings on behalf of AIChE as a whole. They are also in charge of organizing intramurals and creating socials with other disciplines of engineering will improve AIChE’s relationships in the engineering department. Engineers Week and EnVision are examples of annual events that promote engineering awareness. If you have a high level of integrity, can communicate in a professional setting, and want to establish better societal relationships, the Society Representative position is right for you.
